About the band

The Blue Train Big Band has performed extensively throughout the Isle of Man since it was formed by a group of local amateur musicians in 2001. With a programme to suit all tastes including classics from the Kenton, Basie and Miller libraries through to the 21st century sounds of the Big Phat Band, the emphasis is always on entertainment and fun.

The Blue Train Big Band performs at a variety of events and functions throughout each year - Dances, Parties, Weddings etc. In recent times they also performed with the legendary Digby Fairweather, and made two live appearances at the 2006 Derry Jazz & Big Band Festival.

As an amateur band its members come from all walks of life, but they all share one great passion - music. They are renowned for their slick, polished powerhouse performances, which is why you could be forgiven for thinking they are all professional musicians.
